Bug Lessons - Brought to you by Terminix
There are nearly 70 species of cockroaches in the United States and Canada, but only a few are
recognized as household pests. These insects scavenge at night, remaining close to food and water
sources - kitchens and bathrooms - and lay their eggs in hard-to-reach places behind cabinets, in
walls and in other out-of-sight locations.
In addition to Terminix regular pest control service, the following recommendations can help
prevent cockroach infestations:
- Store food in airtight containers
- Cover trash cans
- Keep countertops, cabinets and floors clean: wipe up spills immediately
- Avoid piling dirty dishes in sinks or on countertops
- Inspect groceries as soon as they are brought into the house, especially bags of onions or potatoes and beverage cartons
